STOMPY
K-SCALE LABS
K-Scale Labs, a software startup in the San Francisco Bay Area, is developing a general OS for humanoid robots. Their prototype robot, made from 3D-printed parts, serves as a proof of concept for their software. Sandbox partnered with K-Scale Labs and developed a robot that is fully 3D printable and features interchangeable skins, allowing users to personalize and adapt the robot’s appearance

DESIGN FOUNDATION AND FRAMEWORK
The design built on Stompy’s existing component stack. Actuators, batteries, and perception system, allowing us to refine proportions and surfaces while ensuring seamless mechanical and visual integration.

INTERCHANGEABLE DESIGN
The robot’s modular skins allow clients to customize its appearance. We designed an example skin featuring smooth, sculpted surfaces, bold shoulder forms, and integrated charging details. The head was intentionally kept non-human, friendly, expressive, and approachable.
